"I guess what i am most interested in, and what ultimately serves as inspiration for all my work
is the idea of misbalance and imperfection. Something is broken, maybe in the past or maybe in
the present, and the results sooner or later will always emerge within the human psyche.
I create dolls or hybrids, because i am fascinated with Freud’s idea of the “uncanny”.
I want to create a feeling of irritation inside the viewers maybe to evoke something inside them they were not yet aware of. I have become obsessed with origami and the strive for divinity it represents, the process of creation and then being able to unfold it again, uncovering it layer for layer: like psychoanalysis."

amrei hofstatter lives and works in berlin. she has shown her work in various national and international exibitions. she collaborated with fashion designer manish arora for his fall/winter 2012 collection.
